Sun, 31 Aug, 1:30pm - 4:30pm AEST

Event description

The Otway Bird Observers invite you to a special community screening of Flyways.

Shorebirds fly thousands of miles each year along ancient and largely unknown migratory routes called Flyways. Species travel from feeding grounds in the southern hemisphere to breeding grounds in the Arctic regions and back again, flying up to nine days non-stop without food or water. They are the world’s greatest endurance athletes, and their navigational skills on these marathon migrations are as extraordinary as they are mysterious.

Filmed over four years, Flyways combines natural history, global tracking technology and the passion of scientists and the bird-loving community to better understand the epic flights of these endangered species. Despite incredible challenges, this is a story of hope and discovery as these birds traverse oceans and continents.

Date: Sunday 31 August
Time: 2.00pm screening (arrive from 1.30pm for a cuppa)
Where: Marrar Woorn Community House, Pengilley Avenue, Apollo Bay
Tickets: $10 – limited places
