Foundation Maps: Australia – Maps for Funders

Event description

For many years, it has been difficult to build an accurate representation of giving in Australia, and access to good data is a big piece of this puzzle. Foundation Maps: Australia (FMA) seeks to address this data deficit.

FMA - developed in partnership by Philanthropy Australia and Candid (US) - is a highly interactive and searchable data mapping platform, specifically designed to improve giving by boosting the availability of rich grants data. With just a few clicks, you can see who is funding what and where - across Australia.

It works by aggregating granting data - that is voluntarily contributed - to present a deeper understanding of giving to help us collate, analyse and compare trends across a range of philanthropic activities.

But participatory data tools like FMA are only as useful as we make them! We need your participation to help this platform reach its full potential. By uploading your grants data you can make sure your granting story is told in the right way, while helping to answer questions like:

  • Who else is funding a particular issue in our region?
  • What organisations are tackling that issue?
  • Where are there gaps in funding?
  • How much money is collectively serving specific issues or areas in our region?

At this webinar, we will share funder insights into the importance of using and sharing data and how FMA can be used alongside other data sets in your funding decisions and broader community partnerships. Speakers will explain how to upload your grants data, so that FMA can continue to become a powerful source of accurate, up-to-date information to help funders and not-for-profits in Australia.

This event is open to PA Funder members only
