FOA Invasive Weed Pull
Event description
Help protect Alta through Invasive Weed removal and give back the place we all enjoy.
Invasive weeds crowd out native plant species and impair the habitat. Both Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon supply up to 60% of the drinking water to the Salt Lake Valley. The presence of invasive weeds populations is detrimental to the water quality, cause biodiversity reduction, habitat loss, increases erosion, and inhibit growth of native plants. By removing invasive weeds we help create an environment in which proper water filtration can occur and biodiversity is maintained. Volunteers will help remove invasive weeds on one plot of land near in Alta, UT. Volunteers should be able to walk over uneven ground, bend over for extended periods, work outdoors in a variety of conditions, and comply with the safety guidelines.
