Focus for Future – Environmental Short Film Competition

Into film? Passionate about the environment? We challenge you to Focus for Future!

We are looking for creative storytellers, budding filmmakers, and environmental advocates to capture the beauty of our planet or highlight an issue that needs urgent attention. Whether you are a student, a professional, or a hobbyist, this is your platform to make an impact. We have categories to suit all, from preschool to adults.

We welcome submissions in any style - use live-action, animation, graphics, or slides. Your mission is simple: create a compelling short film (under 5 minutes) that inspires environmental action.

Deadline: 5 PM, Tuesday, 1st September 2026. Send us your completed film and completed entry forms.

Awards & Screening

All entrants are invited to our Awards Ceremony & Film Screening on Thursday, 17th September 2026 at Te Ara Atea. Join us to celebrate the power of local storytelling, view the entries on the big screen, and see who takes home prizes thanks to Rolleston Square in our various award categories!

2. Create: Get creative! Please enjoy filming a story, highlighting a local issue, or showcasing a concern, and endeavour to suggest a solution.
