FoodLab Orientation 2023
Event description
Do you have a food business that you are operating informally? Selling food to friends and family, or through social media? Have a food business idea but struggling to make it happen? If you have a vision to develop a food business and earn your own income, the food industry is competitive and challenging... but it's possible through FoodLab.
FoodLab's mission is to support entrepreneurs facing the highest barriers to the food industry in Sydney. We support migrants, refugees, Aboriginal and low-income entrepreneurs with affordable kitchen space, industry-specific technical resources, mentoring and sales opportunities.
This Orientation session covers the basics of the FoodLab program and also offers a practical guide to developing a solid food business plan. Included is:
- competitor matrix and analysis
- developing a unique value proposition and competitive advantage
- sales and distribution channels
- finance and costing
- the basic council approvals and legal requirements needed
- FoodLab's application process
- other support organisations that can help you.
We ask that all applications into the FoodLab program now include a business plan. These workshops should enable you to kick-start the process, or reconnect with our program, and we will also get a chance to discuss the program and answer any questions you might have.
