Foot Mechanics - Canberra
This one-day workshop will cover theoretical and practical aspects of evaluating and improving the function and mobility of the foot. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of foot anatomy (we will cover the foot tripod, arches, and muscles), will grasp the three-dimensional nature of foot movement, and be equipped to explain and evaluate foot pronation and supination. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the intricate details of foot mechanics through a three-dimensional model and will be given the opportunity to put theory into practice. Practical elements of the workshop will include guiding attendees through a Functional Movement Assessment to evaluate their own foot mechanics. Through these assessments, participants will gain valuable insights into the functioning of their own feet in pronation and supination and be able to see and feel how these movements impact throughout the body. Once participants’ have assessed and understood the function of their own feet, they will be shown a series of functional exercises tailored to improve their mobility. Rounding out the workshop's comprehensive approach to foot mechanics, participants will also learn key exercises to address common foot problems. These exercises will serve as tools for participants to continue their journey towards optimal foot function beyond the workshop.
Presenter: Riccardo Galeotti
As a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, specialising in Acupuncture, Riccardo has over 15 years of clinical experience with an emphasis on holistic, preventative health care. In addition to acupuncture, through his Canberra-based clinic Riccardo has developed a multi-modal approach to therapy, which also offers treatments grounded in functional biomechanics and the Anatomy in Motion (AiM) technique for understanding the movement of each joint structure individually as well as its integrative role in whole of body movement. Through training in muscle testing, gait (walking) analysis, foot mobilisation, functional gait exercises, functional anatomy, and the AiM method, Riccardo has developed an intricate understanding of the body, how it moves, and how to diagnose and treat pain, discomfort, or limitations in mobility. Riccardo can work both internally, addressing the acupuncture meridians, and externally, targeting the bones and muscles through biomechanics and functional anatomy. Riccardo’s experience in integrating these modalities has not only enhanced his practice and success with clients, but it has also led him to expand into providing training and mentorship to other clinicians, in the form of mentorship, workshops, and online seminars.
