For Nature Catch Up - Bringing Back Biodiversity

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Our "For Nature Catch Ups" will be a series of workshops, garden visits and masterclasses during 2021 and beyond to share knowledge and inspiration for Margaret River residents to help nature in their suburban backyards, bush blocks and rural properties.

Our second Catch Up is a a field trip with Ray Swartz, who has eradicated arum lillies, eased erosion and revegetated his bush block fronting the Margaret River into a peaceful and inspiring haven filled with native plants and wildlife.

Through a concerted and methodical eradication effort, Ray clears toxic
weeds like arum lily and blackberry, and makes way for native species.
His philosophy is to think globally and act locally, tackling one bit at a time
with dedication and persistence.

Join Ray, and Nature Conservation Margaret River Region staff, to learn how you can bring back biodiversity on your bush block and rural property.

Note: Participants are required to organise their own transport to and from the property. Please arrive 10 minutes early as the tour will begin sharp at 10am. To find Ray's house:

1. Drive along Caves Road and turn into the McHenry Hohnen vineyard and cellar door (use Google Maps).

2. Follow the main entrance road for about 300m and then take the first bitumen road to the right (do not take the first dirt road).

3. Follow the bitumen road for another 300m and park where the road ends in a cul-de-sac. Nature Conservation staff will meet you here.
