Discover the rich biodiversity of Tasmania's vegetation at our Forest Botany and Threatened Native Vegetation Communities course. This hands-on course will equip you with essential skills to identify, assess and manage key vegetation communities across the state.

Course Highlights

· Learn to use Forest Botany Manuals and flora ID keys in the field

· Explore the relationships between various vegetation classification systems

· Gain insights into managing priority communities and threatened native vegetation communities

· Discover valuable botanical and vegetation resources for natural resource management

Course Details

This course focuses on the Forest Botany Manual and Threatened Native Vegetation Communities (TNVCs) in Tasmania, with an emphasis on key communities in different regions of the state. Participants will learn to identify and assess these communities in the field using Forest Botany Manuals, flora ID keys and other supporting resources.

The aim of this course is to enhance participants' skills in using the Forest Botany Manual and by extension the identification and management of Tasmanian Threatened Native Vegetation Communities (TNVCs) and recently listed Commonwealth Threatened Ecological Communities (TECs).

Course prerequisites

Participants are expected to have a foundational understanding of Tasmanian eucalypt identification and the ability to identify common trees and shrubs.
