Event description

Community connectors notice and respond to issues in their community, connecting people with information, resources and organisations.

COVID-19 has highlighted the important role of strong networks with community leaders and connectors to ensure information and supports are provided.

Join us to learn about the concept of community connectors in the context of multicultural communities and ways to improve your links with local community connectors and the hardly reached to improve access to services.

Community connectors notice and respond to issues in their community. They connect people up – with each other, with information, with organisations, and with resources.” Keynote speaker: Carolyn Wallace, Social Researcher, Swinburne University of Technology.

Speakers:

Dr Carolyn Wallace, will provide an overview of her recent research on community connectors and development of the Community Connector Framework. Community connectors will share their rich insights and experiences about how they work with and connect their own communities.

This forum will:

  • Provide a practice framework to identify and enable connections with communities and the “hardly reached”
  • Feature personal stories and lived experience of community connectors
  • Equip you with strategies for staff, connectors and organisations to expand and enrich connections with multicultural communities and the service system

Who should attend:

Managers and senior staff from local government, government health, community service organisations, neighbourhood houses, and others.

The forum is hosted by the Eastern Metropolitan Region Community Engagement Interest Group in collaboration with community representatives and the Inner East Primary Care Partnership
