Foundations of Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women

Men's violence against women is a serious, widespread, and growing problem in Western Australia. However, there are simple steps we can ALL take to prevent it.
Preventing Violence Together (PVT) invites you to learn how you can play your part in ending men's violence against women by attending our upcoming Foundations of Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women workshop.
About this training
This training is based on Western Australia's framework for primary prevention of men's violence against women: Foundations for Change. It includes a range of interactive activities and resources.
Over two half days, Foundations of Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women will provide participants with an introduction to:
- a primary prevention approach to addressing the underlying drivers of violence against women
- the four gendered drivers of violence against women
- other factors that impact the prevalence and severity of violence against women
- essential actions to challenge drivers of violence against women
- managing resistance and backlash

- Part A: Tuesday 15th October, 9:00am - 12:30pm
- Part B: Wednesday 16th October, 9:00am - 12:30pm
Venue: Multi-Purpose Room, WA Centre for Rural Health (WACRH), 167 Fitzgerald St, Geraldton
Cost: $80. Includes participant workbook and morning tea.

Alicia Gibbs / Preventing Violence Together
Alicia Gibbs is a social worker who is committed to tackling the underlying causes of inequality and gender-based violence. She is the Manager of Preventing Violence Together, a joint initiative of the Centre for Women’s Safety and Wellbeing and Stopping Family Violence working to build the capacity of the primary prevention sector in Western Australia. Alicia is leading the development of Western Australia’s first primary prevention of violence against women practice and workforce capability framework.
Billie Wilkins / Preventing Violence Together
Billie Wilkins is a Warumungu women recently moved to Geraldton from the Northern Territory where her community and country is 530km north of Alice Springs. She has 20 years in the community development and health sectors mainly with Aboriginal Medical Services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. Her role is focused on growing First Nations workforce in family and domestic violence primary prevention.
