This week we speak with Sarada Lee GAICD Data Scientist | Applied AI Researcher | Strategist | Co-Founder, Perth Machine Learning Group. We'll be discussing:
- Her journey from an accountant, specialized in treasury, to now an Applied AI Researcher
- The challenges of transitioning of career through non-transitional education pathway
- What lessons she's learnt from changing career-paths

Sarada Lee GAICD Data Scientist | Applied AI Researcher | Strategist | Co-Founder, Perth Machine Learning Group
Sarada is a qualified accountant with 20 years of specialisation in Treasury working mainly for a dual-listed international company and a semi-government utility organisation. She gained substantial exposure to innovation commercialisation through participation in several industry-driven events. Sarada has won multiple prizes in industry-sponsored commercial hackathons. Success in these events requires an ability to work quickly with highly diverse teams (in terms of backgrounds and experience) on very tight deadlines. Subsequently, Sarada Co-Founded Perth Machine Learning Group.
Sarada was awarded diversity scholarships to study deep learning (fast.ai) in the Data Institute of the University of San Francisco. She is working as a Data Scientist and Compliance Officer for an AI consulting company. Her domain knowledge in accountancy and data science, combined with innovative thinking and commercial focus are her key strengths.
A bit about Perth Machine Learning Group.
Perth Machine Learning Group are a group of industry professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers and curious individuals studying machine learning. No experience in maths required, but you must be willing to program your way through the course and be interested in learning!
