Event description

Frames: Human Rights for Impact is a five-week journey designed for activists, artists, and civil society professionals who want to deepen their understanding of human rights through a practical, justice-centered lens. This course brings participants together from around the world to explore the evolving relationship between human rights and justice, with a practical focus on how each of us can leverage human rights frameworks to drive real, lasting impact.

Each week, we’ll dive into a different theme that unpacks the complex dynamics shaping human rights work today. We’ll ask big questions like: What does justice look like within human rights frameworks? How do economics, politics, and systemic inequities shape human rights mechanisms? And where can we leverage human rights to enhance our advocacy strategies?

Start Date: November 20, 2024
Format
: Online, with live sessions every Wednesday, 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM ET (click here to see the dates/ times in your time zone)
Cost
: 250 USD (scholarships available)
Enrollment Deadline
: November 19, 2024

What to Expect:

  • Week 1: Building our learning community and developing a shared understanding of human rights.
  • Week 2: History and impact. Examining human rights as human-made frameworks that have been shaped, in many ways, by the very systems of oppression we’re up against. However, if humans created them, we can also change them.
  • Week 3 & 4: The global and intersectional picture. Exploring practical case studies from the Solomon Islands and Jamaica, understanding the global economic and political influences on human rights.
  • Week 5: Putting theory into practice. We’ll develop our own roadmaps for how to apply these skills in our real-world advocacy.

Frames is a friendly, supportive space for deep conversation, real-world case studies, and connection with other passionate changemakers. By the end of the course, you’ll be well on your way to:

  • Recognize actionable lessons from history that can inform your strategies for change
  • Sharpen your thinking on how to approach human rights with agility, knowing when and how to apply these frameworks
  • Build a roadmap to leverage these insights for the issues you’re passionate about

Certificate Opportunity: Participants who attend at least three of the five live sessions and complete all the coursework will earn a certificate.

Scholarships: Scholarships are available to make this experience accessible to all. Learn more and complete our application form here.
