UPDATE: Thank you for your interest. This event and the others are full. If you'd like to be involved in future activities with NSW Health or receive a copy of the framework once it's complete please leave your details here

Help to improve the draft NSW Health Consumer and Carer Engagement Framework.

If you're a consumer, carer, NSW Health staff member or community organisation, you're invited to give feedback on the draft framework. This is a virtual event.

    Background 📝

NSW Health is creating a state-wide Consumer and Carer Engagement Framework. The framework won't replace local health district or agency-specific frameworks. It will set a whole-of-system standard of good engagement and show NSW Health staff different ways of working with consumers and carers. So far, the framework includes:

    • guiding principles
    • tools and processes
    • barriers and enablers to good engagement
    • engagement options.

NSW Health and Beyond Sticky Notes are leading this work with several working groups made up of consumers, carers, NSW Health staff and provocateurs from Victoria and Queensland. This project builds on existing engagement research, frameworks and tools from NSW, Australia and internationally.

Here's some more information. Or, if you'd prefer to talk to a real person, please contact KA from Beyond Sticky Notes at kellyann@beyondstickynotes.com. KA can help you register, too.

What will the session involve?  🗓

The session will run for two hours onlineYou'll try out the framework through a series of activities and scenarios. You'll also learn how the framework was designed. The scenarios will help us to test whether the framework works across different contexts, if the language makes sense, and to help you find anything we've missed. We'll also be getting feedback on the visual design of the framework using mood boards.

Who can attend? What's expected of me? 🗳

Each session is open to NSW-based consumers, carers, interested community members, NSW Health staff and consumer peak bodies. We're looking for constructive input from lots of people in different places. All attendees must follow our Code of Care. You'll need a stable internet connection and a keyboard to add to the chat if you don't have a camera or microphone. A camera is helpful but not mandatory.

Will I be paid for my time? 💸

Carers, consumers and community members who are not employed by NSW Health (or an organisation funded by NSW Health) can choose to be paid $80 using Giftpay for two hours of their time. Payment will be provided after the session, and we'll provide details closer to the time.

What's the purpose of these sessions? 🎯

While many people's perspectives and existing research has gone into creating the framework, we need to test it to see if it's useful and if people understand it. If not, we need to make changes. Here are some of our objectives:

    • Does the framework make sense to staff and consumers?
    • Does the framework help staff and consumers understand what to expect across common activities?
    • Is the framework flexible enough to be used and adapted across different contexts (e.g. redevelopment, research, redesign) and communities?
    • Does the framework set clear accountabilities for the NSW Health system? (for example, around recognising consumer and carers' time)
    • Anything else you'd like to share with us

    Who is running the sessions?

External facilitators from Beyond Sticky Notes.

How will my feedback be used? 💬

Some or all of your feedback will be used to improve the framework. Some of your suggestions might be more than what we can do immediately, so we'll save those changes for future work (such as training or an expanded framework). If you attend the sessions, we'll let you know in the months afterwards what changes we did and didn't make and why. Our working groups will help us decide how to act on your feedback.

I have accessibility needs. How will they be accommodated? ⁉️

When you register, we'll ask about your access needs. Then, we'll do our best to make the session as inclusive as possible. That might require a conversation with you. To ensure our communities are protected, most of our sessions are virtual.
