Drawing Intensive at The Foundations; Draw, draw and draw more!

Let's play with curiosity. Breathe fire, push your ideas, experiment and invigorate your drawing practice.

We feel privileged to be led by Fran O'Neill... an extra-ordinary teacher, on staff at the New York Studio School as well as our very own National Art School.   With great knowledge of both art history, contemporary artists, materials and techniques; Fran will both facilitate group discussion and relate to artists one-on-one, developing everyones unique style and sensibility.

This 3-day intensive will focus on drawing, collaging, and using life around you as a direct examination of your personal artistic perception. You will come to understand more deeply your relationship to your visual world.

The workshop will integrate group conversations and collaboration, with the goal of working towards a body of work that may be big, small, or a series as the final product. Discussions with renowned artist and teacher, Fran O’Neill, will broaden each artists visual vocabulary and mark-making skills.

You are encouraged to use your own subject matter as the catalyst of your creativity. Or work from in the heritage precinct or regenerated quarry landscape of The Foundations.

You will gain a vibrant idea of the variety of approaches to abstraction via landscape, life, or concept, and develop a strong sense of how to approach abstraction on your own terms.

This is drawer's degustation - come and be filled with creative delights.

Suggested Materials:

PLEASE DO NOT WORRY IF YOU DON’T HAVE EXACTLY WHAT IS LISTED BELOW,  FRAN WILL WORK WITH YOU AND WITH WHATEVER YOU HAVE OR WISH TO USE.

● 20 Sheets (20” x 30”) cold press paper
● Sketch book (suggested 16” x 20”)
● Charcoal
● Variety of grey lead pencils
● Biro
● Glue (Matt or Gloss medium)
● Sumi ink
● Sticks
● Brushes (variety, flat, round, calligraphic)
● Black and white acrylic paint
● Ruler
● Scissors
