International Blues Day at Fillmore's: Frank Sultana & Geoff Achison

Kiama's own international bluesman Frank Sultana is hosting a special celebration of the blues, on August 4, for International Blues Day at Fillmores His very special guest, all the way from Melbourne, is none other than Blues Music Victoria Hall of Famer, Geoff Achison.Geoff's career spans 4 decades, kicking off in the early 90s when he joined Australian blues legend Dutch Tilders band.In 1995 he picked up the Albert King Award from the Memphis Blues Foundation for best guitar player at that years International Blues Challenge.He has toured USA, UK & Europe with his band the Soul Diggers , and has received multiple awards over the years for his playing, songwriting and live performances. Frank has been touring the country, writing and releasing his music since 2011. In 2023 he won the Memphis International Blues Challenge, becoming only the 3rd Australian to do so in the events 38 year history, and on his return he won 4 Sydney Blues Society Awards, including Artist of the Year.This year he was nominated for an APRA AMCOS Award for his song the Howling Dogs, from his album the Ghosts of Sun, recorded at the famous Sun Studio in Memphis Tennessee.Frank and Geoff will each perform songs from their vast catalogue of original blues, and with some surprise guests!Fillmores will be alive with deep Mississippi vibes, it's gonna be a Juke Joint shindig as we celebrate the Blues.
