When teenage Ellie Blake and her mother, Katherine, find themselves constantly frustrated with each other, neither can understand what life is really like on the other side of the generation gap. Ellie thinks her mother is controlling and doesn’t understand her, while Katherine struggles to keep up with her demanding work, an upcoming wedding and the challenges of raising a teenager.

Then, in a moment of magical mayhem, a mysterious hourglass causes Ellie and Katherine to swap bodies.

With Katherine suddenly navigating the unpredictable world of high school and Ellie forced to take on the responsibilities of her mother’s busy life, the pair must pretend to be each other while desperately searching for a way to reverse the spell. As they stumble through each other’s worlds, they discover that neither life is quite as easy as it seems.

With a wedding just hours away, a school-wide scavenger hunt underway and chaos unfolding on both sides, Ellie and Katherine are forced to work together. Along the way, they begin to understand each other in a way they never could before, confronting old frustrations, discovering new empathy and rediscovering the strength of their relationship.
