FREE Calligraphy Workshop for Beginners
Description
This workshop is part of the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque Community Festival, taking place on the 15th and 16th of May. As part of the festival, we are offering a range of free activities across both days, celebrating and sharing the richness of traditional Ottoman culture with the wider community.
Join our free 50-minute beginner calligraphy workshop led by experienced artist Mehmet Hatipoglu, who has spent years crafting and perfecting this timeless art form. As part of our community festival, this hands-on session offers a unique opportunity to explore the beauty and tradition of calligraphy in a welcoming and creative environment.
You will learn about the history of the craft and its evolution over time, the foundational techniques used to create elegant script, and how to properly use traditional calligraphy tools. The workshop also includes dedicated time for you to practice writing your own name, giving you a personal piece of art to take home.
After the workshop, you are invited to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the mosque or explore our vibrant outdoor space featuring friendly food vendors and local businesses.
