FREE City of Swan Community Cleanaway Material Recovery Facility (MRF) tour

OVERVIEW
Want to see what happens to your recyclables once your yellow bin is collected? Come on a tour of Cleanaway's state-of-the-art Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in South Guildford, and watch your recycling be sorted for reprocessing ♻
You'll get to see:
Cardboard bailers
Optical sorters that sort hard plastics into five different polymers for bailing
Bounce and ballistic conveyers to sort paper products
Separation of glass
Sorting of aluminium and steel cans
Plus get the benefit of seeing where your local recycling goes, and why it's important to recycle as best we can.
This tour is free, and available to City of Swan residents.
Safety considerations and requirements:
Enclosed footwear, long sleeves and pants are required.
Hard hats and HiVis vests will be provided.
Attendees will need to walk up five flights of stairs, unaided, to get to Cleanaway's education room.
The equipment at the MRF includes an eddy current and strong magnet. Those with pacemakers should be aware of this.
Children must be over 10 years of age to attend.
Complimentary transport will be provided. The bus will be leaving from the Jack Mann Oval carpark on Bishop Road, Middle Swan adjacent to the City of Swan Operations Depot, (corner of Great Northern Highway and Bishop Road, Middle Swan). The bus will be leaving at 9:30am sharp to ensure arrival at Cleanaway on time.
If you wish to take your own transport, please arrive at the Cleanaway MRF (72 Hyne Road, South Guildford) no later than 9:50am for a 10am start. Cars must reverse in to meet site protocols. There is limited parking, so taking the bus or carpooling is preferred 🚍.
