This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

We are offering a FREE legal problem-spotting training for community and social support workers to detect the types of legal issues raised in the context of domestic violence, including AVOs, and how to make effective referrals to your community legal centre.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESPONSE PILOT PROGRAM

The DVRPP offers a range of free legal services to men from culturally and linguistically diverse  (CALD) communities (including migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and temporary visa holders) in relation to domestic violence issues living across NSW.

We can help with free legal information, referrals or advice, and in some cases, legal representation.  We also deliver free legal education sessions to the community.  Some of the issues we cover will include, but are not limited to:

  • AVO matters
  • Divorce / separation
  • Victim protection and support
  • Parenting disputes
  • Minor criminal charges
  • Debt matters
  • Physical / spiritual / psychological / sexual / technological abuse
  • Forced marriage

We prioritise our services for people with barriers to accessing justice and accept referrals from legal services, community services and other non-legal programs.
