How Poetry Changes Your Brain
with neuroscience researcher and author Mark Waldman
Your brain is built to communicate poetically, lyrically, and melodically, and if you don’t speak and write poetically – even in an email! – the listener and reader will misunderstand most of what you wanted to convey. These are the findings from a new field of study called “neurocognitive poetics” and in this special workshop, you will practice a series of unique exercises that will quickly show you how to reconnect with the musical and poetic structures in the brain. By doing so, you'll achieve optimal neurological, psychological, and emotional health.
Bring pen and paper, and a small treat to share. RSVP: markwaldman3@gmail.com , or just show up and bring a friend! No writing experience is necessary! More info: www.WritersintheGallery.com . Studio Channel Islands Art Center: 2222 Ventura Boulevard, Camarillo, CA 93010
