FREE Mothers and Daughters Menstruation workshop
Event description
This free Mothers & Daughters menstruation workshop is a part of a project called 'BLOOD' THE MUSICAL, commissioned by the Central Coast Council's Creative Arts Central. Astrid Serpentine is currently writing a musical about menstruation and is seeking stories by girls and women about their experience and knowledge of this rite of passage.
In exchange for participants filling out the survey below, either using their name or writing anonymously, Astrid is offering a free 3-hour workshop that helps Mothers and Daughters (10-15) to bond and learn about the first rite of passage: Menstruation.

We will sit in a circle together and create a safe space for sharing what's on your mind and in your heart.
These workshops will cover:
-Discussion, questions, sharing in circle and partner work.
-Thoughts, fears and ideas about menstruation in society and culture.
-Dispelling the myth of menstruation as a curse to empower and support Mothers and Daughters.
-Physiological phases of menstruation, including hormonal changes, the 4-week cycle and characteristics.
-Emotional responses - Normalising changes in mood & energy levels at each week of the cycle
-Tips for self-care for every week of the cycle and ways to utilise each week of the cycle for your well-being.
-Preparation for menstruation.
-Fun exercises, self-expression, and embodiment of the seasonal, cyclic aspects of the menstrual cycle.
-Draw and take home a personalised menstrual map to support your daughter's journey into womanhood.
-Closing circle.
If this sounds like something you would benefit from, please RSVP so we have accurate numbers for the day. Please share this with your friends. The more girls and women we bring together, the better.
A form will be sent to all the mums regarding their own menstrual cycle, along with a brief phone call to check in and discuss how the workshop will unfold.
See you soon
