In recognition of Perinatal Mental Health Week, we invite you to a dedicated webinar on supporting the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents. The transition into parenthood is both significant and deeply personal—yet perinatal depression and anxiety affect thousands of families every year.

This session will unpack the emotional challenges many parents face, explore the early signs that extra support may be needed, and offer practical, evidence-informed strategies to help families feel connected, confident and understood.

Whether you’re a parent, carer, or professional working with families, this webinar provides a warm, supportive space to learn, reflect and strengthen mental wellbeing in the early years.

About the Presenters

Amelia has worked with Gidget Foundation Australia (GFA) since 2018. Her experience in establishing and managing health clinics in the UK, alongside her work in private practice as a PACFA registered Counsellor, ensures that the client's experience is the driving focus of her work with GFA.

In addition to managing the team of Clinical Intake Coordinators and the processes ensuring client accessibility into the service, Amelia has provided education to midwives, staff and other stakeholders. She has been Secretariat for the GFA Clinical Governance Committee, a spokesperson for the foundation, and provides clinical oversight and support to projects across the organisation.

Beyond the doors of GFA, Amelia practices as a Counsellor and fills her cup with the simple pleasures of Sydney life: expansive skies, saltwater, family, and friends.

Lucy joined Gidget Foundation Australia (GFA) in 2023 and is now working as Community Engagement Manager.

For the first phase of her career, Lucy worked on planning and managing large-scale, community-based events in Sydney, including the Paralympics and Centenary of Federation celebrations. In the next season of her career, her focus shifted entirely to the incredibly intimate world of childbirth.

In 2005, Lucy began building and developing her own startup venture, Sydney Birth Support, providing doula support to mothers in the perinatal season. After many years of observing the toll this period can take on a woman's emotional well-being and mental health, Lucy launched her own e-commerce business, LucyLou Mother Nurture, in 2020, providing pregnancy support and childbirth education.

Having seven children of her own and being a foster mum to others, Lucy understands what’s involved in motherhood. She’s passionate about this season of life and feels it’s her life’s calling to champion all mums everywhere through what she knows can be a truly wild season.

About The Gidget Foundation
