You can attend one of these events on either 22nd July or 5th August.
Part 1: Tax InformationÂ
This will provide general tax information and explore answers to tax questions including:
- Can you explain the Australian Taxation System in simple terms?
- Am I a resident for tax purposes ?
- How do I claim my tax refund and what do I need to know before lodging a tax return?
- What expenses can I or can’t claim ?
- How to spot a tax scam ?
Part 2: Help lodge your first Tax Return online using your myGov access (In-Person Only)Â
If you are planning to lodge your first tax return this year (2024 Income Tax year) and have a myGov account and a Tax File Number (TFN), you are eligible to participate in Part 2 of our workshop. Our Tax Clinic student advisors under the direction of a registered Tax Agent will support you in completing your first Australian tax return.
In this workshop we will provide help and support to :
- Linking your myGov to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) site
- Navigate and complete your tax return using myTax
- Where appropriate, you can lodge your tax return or save and lodge later.
This workshop, run by the Tax Clinic Staff, will assist students lodging returns as an individual and sole trader with an ABN. For complex tax affairs we recommend you seek additional professional advice from a registered tax agent.
