Free The Friday #5 Ray Dimakarri Dixon + Stuart Joel Nugget (NT) and the Standing Strong Band
Event description
Join us for an unforgettable evening on Friday, January 24th at 7 PM at the Red Rattler Theatre as we "Free the Friday" with Ray Dimakarri Dixon and the Standing Strong Band. This event is not just a concert; it's a powerful gathering that brings together music, stories, and ancient wisdom in support of our most precious resource—Water.
Ray Dimakarri Dixon stands as a proud leader in the Indigenous music scene. Singing in Mudburra—a language spoken by only 50 people—Ray embodies the spirit of his ancestors as he channels his passion for his homeland into profound musical expressions. His works, including the album *Standing Strong* and the recent EP *Shadow Water*, resonate deeply with themes of connection to country and community.
Joining him is Stuart Joel Nugget, a Jingil and Mudbarra man from the Barkly region. As part of a new wave of Indigenous singer-songwriters, Stuart's music celebrates his traditional culture while addressing pressing issues like mining and fracking that threaten his land. His songs often honor his heritage by incorporating ancient Jingili language.
This event promises to connect you with the spirits of the land while emphasizing that Water is Life. Remember, booking is essential for this free entry event with a pay-as-you-feel option—your contributions will help support these vital voices in our community. Don’t miss out on this chance to be part of something truly special!
