Event description

Why do you want to raise money? Where will the funds come from?

As a fundraiser, you probably regularly ask yourself these questions. So does your organisation’s board and leadership team.

A great fundraising strategy answers these questions by identifying ‘where, what, when, how, and why’.

In this upcoming F&P webinar, seasoned strategic fundraising expert and author Pamela Sutton-Legaud will teach you how to create a winning fundraising strategy.

Pamela will take you through the four stages of creating a strategy outlined in her book: The Fundraiser’s Handbook – Create a winning fundraising strategy and raise more money.

These four stages are:

  • Prepare
  • Write
  • Implement
  • Evaluate

As an added bonus, you’ll get a 20% discount on the price of Pamela’s book, plus the chance to win a free copy!

In this hands-on webinar, you will find out:

  • The philanthropic background in Australia, including why people donate.
  • How to raise money with and without DGR (deductible gift recipient status).
  • How to determine and bring together the resources (time, money and talent) to deliver your strategy.
  • How to evaluate your efforts and improve your results in future.

Pamela will also help you answer the questions that challenge all fundraisers:

  • Where do I find new donors?
  • How do I increase giving from existing donors?
  • How do I use my limited resources?
  • How do I target high net worth donors?

This webinar will give you a customised framework for creating your fundraising strategy, as well as ways to improve your existing fundraising strategy.

Please join us on Tuesday 5 April at 11AM AEST to craft a strategy that raises more funds for your cause!

The Presenter

PAMELA SUTTON-LEGAUD, CEO, Homeward Bound Projects

Pamela Sutton-Legaud MBA CFRE FFIA started her career in advertising in England with Ogilvy & Mather Direct. She then moved to Australia, where she joined Leo Burnett Connaghan & May, and Lintas:Melbourne.

After a few years, Pamela felt she needed to realign her work with her values. She moved to the nonprofit sector and discovered her life’s mission, which has centred around helping the most vulnerable (including women, children, and wildlife).

Pamela initially joined the sector by starting her own charity—The Wild Tiger Fund—to raise awareness and funds for anti-poaching programs in India. She then joined Oxfam Australia to run their direct marketing program. From Oxfam, she moved to another international aid agency—Plan International—as Chief Marketing Officer.

In 2006, Pamela was recognised for her work with Plan and the Melbourne Commonwealth Games as a Victorian Telstra Businesswoman of the Year.

Pamela found her way back to wildlife and conservation by joining Bush Heritage Australia as Chief Marketing Officer, an organisation that has done a wonderful job of protecting entire landscapes around Australia. Then, for five years, she was Executive Director at Zoos Victoria Foundation, where she helped to raise more than $20 million to restore the zoos’ infrastructure and contributed to protecting Victoria’s 20 most threatened species.

After leaving the zoo, Pamela joined international fundraising consultancy AskRIGHT, first as Senior Consultant and then as Principal Consultant. Together with teams in Australia and New Zealand, she helped more than 500 NFP organisations and raised more than $1 billion across both countries.

Throughout her career, Pamela has learnt that one of the most important tools in raising money is to have a clear, written plan. She has proven that when a fundraiser takes a systematic, planned approach to fundraising, great results are possible. For this reason, she wrote The Fundraiser’s Handbook, the only book of its kind for Australian fundraisers, to help others use this effective tool to deliver consistent results.

In 2020, Pamela stood for local council to ensure there were women on the council. Today, she is a Hobsons Bay City Councillor and joint Women’s Charter Champion. She also serve as a volunteer board director for BirdLife Australia, Hobsons Bay Community Fund and Seddon Community Bank and is a CFRE Ambassador.

In 2021, Pamela took over from the founder as inaugural full-time CEO at Homeward Bound Projects, a leadership initiative for women in STEMM, where she continues to share her fundraising vision with women leaders.
