Wāhine in Jazz presents a set of jazz at the 2026 Wellington Jazz Festival. Mixing the joy and interaction of free improvisation around, within and informed by standards well known in the Jazz idiom, performed by an all women and queer group of musicians.

Featuring ~ Amina Ebrahim, Ella Jean, Jennah Mexted, Simone Hidalgo, Nina Sugimura and Holly Kayser.

✰ Wāhine in Jazz is a Tāmaki Makaurau based organisation that advocates for and promotes the development of female and gender diverse jazz musicians in Aotearoa.

✰ We hope to generate change in the music industry by encouraging a strong community of jazz musicians, by increasing the visibility of women and the gender diverse in jazz, and by advocating for fair pay to create sustainable careers.

✰ We host jams, gigs and workshops with notable female musicians with the aim to aid the formation of interpersonal relationships and collaborative connections, providing a safe space for musicians to connect and learn from each other. Our events are open to all.
