FRESH CANBERRA CLASSICS // Trevor Dickinson // Exhibition Opening
Event description
Please join us in celebration of Trevor Dickinson’s Fresh Canberra Classics.
With his illustrations of Clem Cummings 1974 bus shelters, Trevor Dickinson put these now iconic structures on the map and in doing so began a conversation. Canberra has long been snubbed as “boring” and overlooked. But with Trevor's illustrations of the Capital he started a revolution of Canberra pride.
Fresh Canberra Classics is the latest of Trevor Dickinson's work capturing the beauty of our everyday and illuminating the pedestrian and mundane. His illustrations of our ageing street signs , empty motels and wonky letterboxes can’t help but bring a sense of excitement as locals find their own in the mix.
The Front is delighted to announce the opening will launch for ’The Book of Canberra” . A super deluxe book of over 300 Canberra drawings by Trevor Dickinson collected together for the first time. Representing sketchbooks, commissions, screen prints, bus shelters and recent work, all accompanied by Mister Dickinson’s comments and thoughts about Canberra and the work the city has inspired over the past ten years.
Opening Night Sunday 4th December from 5pm- 8pm . Entry is free and ticketed to ensure covid capacity restrictions are maintained!
