The safety and well-being of our community, guests, musicians, volunteers, vendors, and staff will always come first. Out of an abundance of caution due to the Woodside Fire in Sonoma County and its potential impacts on air quality and public safety, Fridays at the Hood on Friday, July 31, 2026, has been postponed.

“The Woodside Fire has prompted evacuation orders and warnings in parts of western Sonoma County, along with smoke impacts across the region.” (CBS News)

We know many of you were looking forward to celebrating with The Soul Section, and we share your disappointment. We are working to reschedule this concert and will announce the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

🎶 🎷 🎶 The Soul Section brings an electrifying mix of soul, funk, R&B, and dance classics to Fridays at the Hood with a powerhouse lineup of seasoned musicians and infectious grooves. The Bay Area band with its primary focus on the great funk and soul music of the 60's and 70's. They also draw favorites from the deep well of the entire Rock era. This group of experienced musicians share a passion for live performance and a solid dance beat.

Founded 16 years ago by vocalist Kevin Mulligan and bassist Pete Donery, the band has built a reputation for high-energy performances, tight musicianship, and a sound that keeps audiences dancing all night long. Featuring Mike Perez on drums, Sara on trombone, Jane Fossgreen on saxophone, Ella Steinberg on trumpet, Gus Scherer on guitar, and Steve Younger on keyboards, Soul Section delivers a dynamic blend of soulful vocals, driving rhythms, and vibrant horn arrangements.
