Friends of Wooditjup Bilya: Looking after past plantings! π±
Description
Join the Friends of Wooditjup Bilya to care for a past planting on Thursday 12 November, 9:30am-12:30pm.
We'll start the day with a short talk from a presenter to be confirmed, followed by getting into some hands-on conservation action!
We will be looking after a site that has been cared for and planted with local natives over the last couple of years. This involves:
Tree guard maintenance: Tree guards protect seedlings as they grow, especially from being eaten by rabbits and kangaroos. As a plant grows, it may no longer need to be guarded, so we remove these, or guards may become loose from wind or predation and need to be 'tightened'.
Weeding: We will target certain invasive weeds in the reserve, as well as weeds and grasses growing directly around seedlings to remove competition give them the best chance to grow big and strong.
