From Afghanistan to Australia - Tackling Inequality Learning Circle
Event description
From Afghanistan to Australia. Three months after the Taliban took over, what can people seeking safety expect?
Australia’s relationship with Afghani refugees stretches over two decades with very different responses from the Australian government over time.
In this panel, we will join the dots – from women in Kabul in hiding from the Taliban, to the legal teams supporting people seeking safety in Australia. We will hear that while the Australian Government is providing welcome support to some people escaping the Taliban now, the story is very different for those who came seeking safety before the takeover.
Hear from a dynamic line-up including policy experts and those with direct experience of seeking asylum in Australia and learn how you can assist in this changing environment.
