Hosted by Violence Free North Canterbury, with expert presenters from Tāima Kōrero and STOP, this engaging workshop will help equip community support professionals with practical tools to respond to sexualised behaviour, support whānau, and build digital resilience in tamariki and rangatahi.

Throughout this workshop, our expert presenters will explore:

  • Understanding Sexualised Behaviour Across Developmental Stages
    What’s typical vs. concerning behaviour; interpreting intent behind behaviours

  • Trauma-Informed and Culturally Responsive Practice
    How trauma impacts behaviour; integrating kaupapa Māori and whānau-centered approaches

  • Responding Safely and Effectively as Professionals
    Language, boundaries, calm interventions, and best-practice processes

  • Engaging with Whānau and Caregivers
    Supporting, educating, and partnering with whānau in a non-judgemental way

  • Having Safe and Constructive Conversations
    Talking with tamariki, caregivers, and colleagues about sexualised behaviour

  • Digital Influences on Sexual Development
    Role of pornography, AI, social media, and porn-producing apps

  • Recognising and Responding to Porn Exposure
    Symptoms, triage questions, and immediate response strategies

  • Reducing the Impact of Pornography on Youth
    Practical prevention and intervention strategies for whānau and professionals

  • Equipping Tamariki and Rangatahi with Tools for Digital Resilience
    Teaching consent, body autonomy, and critical digital literacy

  • Accessing and Sharing Supportive Resources
    Online tools and resources for professionals, whānau, and young people

This workshop is ideal for:

  • Community support professionals working with tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau, including social workers, youth workers, educators, and health practitioners.

  • Frontline staff in schools, community organisations, health services, and communities of faith, who encounter sexualised behaviour or digital safety concerns.

  • Anyone supporting whānau impacted by trauma, pornography exposure, or digital influences, and wanting to respond in a culturally responsive, trauma-informed way.

Numbers for this workshop are limited. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
