From on High - Shared History
Event description
Join us at The Lookout Cambewarra as we gaze across the extensive expanse of the Shoalhaven, with its 170 km of coastline. Perched high on the summit of the Cambewarra mountain range, there is no shortage of sensational views from Coolangatta Mountain in the north, all the way down to Pigeon house in southern Shoalhaven. Be sure to bring your cameras!
Bring two perspectives to play, we talk about First Contact here, what happened around here before and where that leaves us all today.
We will be hosted by Barbara and James, new owners of this spectacular venue, which has been operating since 1905, committed to finding a way forward that is Culturally respectful and helps the Shoalhaven become aware of our rich Millenia long history.
Drew Longbottom, Dharrawal and Wandra Wandian Man and an influential and respected Knowledge Holder, Language Custodian, and Cultural Educator, will help us understand history from his peoples' perspective.
Lynne Allen, incredibly proactive President of the Shoalhaven Historical Society and The Shoalhaven Family History Society will talk about Colonial history and the forces that have shaped what we currently know as the Shoalhaven.
Bring your full attention along for their presentations and your submit your questions for our Q&A, which they have promised to pursue if unable to answer, though there is a slim chance of that!
Canapes and lunch are included on your ticket and the bar is open for business for all your beverage needs . (insert menu or description?)
