Event description

This National Services Te Paerangi workshop is delivered in partnership with Teece Museum of Classical Antiquities for ServiceIQ trainees enrolled in the New Zealand Certificate in Museum Practice, for those looking after cultural collections and those revisiting standards of best practice in museums and galleries.

This free workshop will cover:

  • Museum collection development policy and practice,

  • Acquisitions processes, deaccession and disposal policies,

  • Protocols for handling collection items, and

  • The storage and display of collection items using preventative conservation methods.

This workshop will be facilitated by Shae Trewin, Museum Development Advisor at Te Papa Tongarewa. Shae has over 17 years of experience in collections care, management, and registration across Aotearoa and the United States. She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies from Deakin University and has critical experience in the sustainable operation of collection stores, collection moves and rationalisation.
