FROM STAGE TO SCREEN: An Acting Workshop Series

This four-part online series of workshops focuses on the skills and challenges involved with crossing over from stage to screen. Learn about tips, tricks, and helpful guides that aim to demystify the process of putting together and submitting reels and self-tapes. These hour-long interactive sessions will take place online over Zoom and will all feature opportunities to ask questions and engage in discussions with each of our guest instructors as well as the other attendees. Each workshop is $25 ($20 concession), or gain access to all four for $75 - that's like getting one workshop for free!

ACTING FOR CAMERA: THE ACTOR'S TECHNIQUE

How do you act for a camera when you're used to acting for the back row? Learn how to adapt your stage acting skills for TV & Film with instructor Melissa David. Melissa spent several years in New York City (where credits include The Greatest Showman) after graduating from University of Tennessee, currently ranked 11th in the world among graduate schools with an acting degree.

BEHIND THE LENS: FILMING THE PERFECT SELF-TAPE AT HOME

Learn everything there is to know about filming the perfect self-tape – including what equipment, lighting and angles you should be thinking about – with Angel Leggas of 3 Fates Media. Angel has worked in the Melbourne professional & independent arts scene for over twenty years as an actor, writer, director, producer, photographer and videographer.

HOW TO STAND OUT: A CASTING DIRECTOR'S PERSPECTIVE

You've landed an audition...now what? See screen auditions through the eyes of a casting director with Amy Mete from Nick Hamon Casting. Amy has worked on hundreds of TV commercials and was nominated for Best Casting in a TVC Community at the 2018 Casting Guild of Australia Awards. Most recently, Amy cast the comedy series Why Are You Like This (ABC). 

CROSSING FROM STAGE TO SCREEN: AN INTERACTIVE FORUM 

Wed 13 Oct, 7-8pm

Everything a stage actor could want to know about acting in commercials, television or films. This panel discussion features actors Fiona Choi (The Family Law) and Milo Hartill (Cyrano at MTC) along with producer Tony Coombs (Harvest Pictures).
