Event description

With an abundant season of summer fruit ahead, join Growing Abundance and the Newstead Community Garden to prepare your garden toolkit for one of the less desirable summer visitors... Queensland Fruit Fly. Supported by Mount Alexander Shire Council.

You'll learn:

  • Queensland Fruit Fly identification
  • Organic pest control techniques
  • How to track QFF populations in your garden
  • Which trap? When, Where, How, Why?

Take home FREE fruit fly traps for your garden, and the know-how to use them over the warmer months.

Many thanks to Newstead Community Garden for hosting this event, to the Orchard Keepers Fruit Crew for their support, and to Mount Alexander Shire Council for making this event possible through a Community Grant.

This event will take place on Djaara Country, the traditional lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung. We wish to pay our respects to Djarra Ancestors, Elders past and present, and to the Djarra community whose continual custodianship of this Country plays an integral and foundational role in the life of this nation. Sovereignty was never ceded, This always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
