Far South Pride Bus 2026
Description
✨ Far South Pride Bus 2026 ✨
Get a lift from the Far South to the TasPride Parade and Party in the Park!
We’re planning pick-up points in Dover, Geeveston, and Huonville, finishing in Hobart — with return transport after the event.
🗓️ Date: Saturday, 14th February
🕒 Departure times see below
This is our 3rd year organising the Pride Bus, and we're so happy we can offer it again.
It’s not a “party bus”. It’s usually really relaxed and quiet, a nice calm way to travel up to the parade.
You’re welcome to march in the parade with Far South Pride, join another group, or just watch the parade.
🚌 Pick-Up & Return Details
Please arrive 10–15 minutes early at your chosen pick-up point so we can leave on time: the bus cannot wait if you're late!
On the way there
10:00AM: Dover – Dover Bus Stop Huon Highway (across from the Hardware Store)
10:35AM: Geeveston – Geeveston Bus Station Honeywood Lane (near Medical Centre)
11:10AM: Huonville – Huonville Bus Station, Skinner Drive
This will be a lightly longer stop if anyone needs a quick toilet trip (let Kati know if you're leaving the bus).
We’ll also take a moment here to thank the groups who donated and people involved in organising the bus and very briefly introduce the Resilient Rainbows project: this will be a quick one-minute chat before we continue.
12:00PM: Hobart – Marshalling Area for the Tas Pride Parade - Cnr Elizabeth Street & Patrick Street, Hobart
Final drop-off, right across the road from the Parade marshalling area.
Toilets are available but expect queues.
Return trip
After the Party in the Park, we’ll catch the return bus at Davey St after Murray St Bus Stop for the trip home.
Pick-up point: Google Maps= 488H+2M Hobart, Tasmania, just a short walk from Franklin Square.
We’ll return in reverse order: Hobart → Huonville → Geeveston → Dover.
Please arrive on time — the bus must leave as scheduled to get everyone home safely.
If you miss the return bus:
There are public Metro buses from Hobart to Huonville, but services to Geeveston and Dover are limited and may involve long waits.
Plan ahead and let Kati know if you’ll be travelling back another way.

🌈 What to Bring
Comfortable walking shoes
Sun protection: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
Water bottle and any snacks or items you need
BYO sensory supports — noise-cancelling headphones, stim toys, or whatever helps you feel comfortable
Rainbow lollipops, flags, and water-based face paint will be available on the bus for anyone feeling festive!
♿ Accessibility & Inclusion
We’re committed to making the Pride Bus as safe and welcoming as possible:
The bus is not wheelchair-accessible, but there’s space to store prams and mobility aids.
Mixed seating available: if you need a particular spot (front, back, etc.), let Kati know when booking.
No toilets on the bus, and no planned stops apart from 15 minutes in Huonville.
The driver usually has soft music playing, it's generally a low-sensory environment: please be mindful with perfumes or sprays.
The bus is air conditioned, and there are seatbelts for everyone.
💬 Resilient Rainbows
This year’s bus is made possible thanks to DASAG, the Geeveston Disco Group, and Resilience Canopy.
Resilience Canopy has funded us so we can gather community input for our Resilient Rainbows project.
We’ll take a short moment at Huonville to explain the project and hand out flyers. Everyone will have the chance to vote on the bus: It only takes a minute, but it makes a big difference to our work. 🌈
💸 Tickets
Free for everyone!
If you can't make it, please refund your ticket so someone else can come!
Donations are warmly appreciated to help us run the Pride Bus again next year.
❤️ Thank You
Huge thanks to our community sponsors DASAG, Geeveston Disco Group, and Resilience Canopy, and to everyone who helps keep this colourful little bus rolling each year!
note: sadly, the bus will not be painted with a rainbow on the side.
