Fun with Dry Point Etching
The world of etching will send you down a myriad of rabbit holes with so many exciting techniques to explore such as dry point, chin-colle, solar, mezzotint, aquatint, hard and soft ground etching, to name a few.Â
What will be covered in this course?
This course is for beginners in the field of printmaking. Tools, materials and paper will be explained as well as basic safety and cleanliness procedures. Demonstration and explanation on the mark making and effects of different tools, taking the first print proof, making adjustments to the print and print editions will be covered.Â
By the end of this course students will:
Design and create two etchings
Utilise chine-colle techniques, wiping techniques
Used various colours of ink
Create editions

Karen Thio's call is for a 'Printmakers Revolution'. Printmaking in all it's forms is experiencing a groundswell of interest all across the globe. Printmakers from across the world are participating in print exchanges, conferences, printing fairs and have a large, active presence on social media. Karen studies at Sydney College of the Arts and East Sydney Tech in the late 70's early 80's
