EMPOWER: The Why Behind Functional Therapy

GRP Speech Pathology is hosting a remarkable professional development opportunity to enhance your clinical skillset as an Allied Health professional! The mission of the night is to promote the importance and consolidate your understanding of taking a functional approach to therapy in order to make a real and meaningful impact to your client's lives.

The best part is that all the proceeds from the ticket purchase will go directly to charity; The Best Life Foundation!

This will be a night to remember... We promise! Think empowerment through; Inspirational speakers, delicious doughnuts, unique learning opportunities and the best Allied Health crowd!

Keynote speaker,  Dr Dinesh Palipana is a true exemplar of resilience and is an incredible leader who has challenged the limits of mindset and belief.

Dinesh was the first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland and the second person to graduate medical school with quadriplegia in Australia. Dinesh is a doctor, lawyer, disability advocate, author and researcher in spinal cord injury. Amongst many awards, in 2019, Dinesh was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and was the Queensland Australian of the Year for 2021. Halfway through medical school, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that caused a cervical spinal cord injury.

Dinesh will share his gripping journey and highlight his functional therapy experience which supported him greatly in exceeding his rehabilitation, personal and professional goals.

Most importantly, Dinesh represents the power of looking beyond impairments and diagnosis and thinking outside the box to realise potential. This typifies functional therapy across all areas of Allied Health.
