    Meet the Experts: 

    Anne O'Neil
    Director for Enterprise, International Partnerships and Clinical Trials at the Office for Health and Medical Research

    Anne has over 25 years’ experience in the health, medical research and policy sectors. She is responsible for leading the development and implementation of major policies and programs to enhance medical research capacity in NSW, and raise the profile of NSW research and development nationally and internationally. She is responsible for the NSW Medical Device Fund and NSW Commercialisation Training Program – both have been critical to accelerating the development of NSW intellectual property and the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs in NSW. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Physiology and Pharmacology) (Hons) and an Executive Masters of Public Administration.

    Dr. Jeremy Kwarcinski
    Co-Founder & CEO (iiShield) Biomedical Engineer

    Dr Jeremy Kwarcinski is the co-founder of iiShield, a medical device developer and innovator for the signature KidneyPJ - a single-use, cost-effective medical device that aims to increase the available time for kidney transplantation. iiShield is one of only three companies to receive funding in 2021 from the NSW Health Medical Devices Fund. Jeremy is a current resident at the Cicada HealthTech Hub as he and his team continues to develop and refine their product in collaboration with the clinicians and surgeons across the Westmead Health Precinct, in hopes to provide a surgical environment which fosters improved short & long term transplant outcomes.

    Megan O'Connor
    Managing Director at Kantara Consulting

    Megan O’Connor, PhD, MBA is the founder of Kantara Consulting, a boutique consultancy firm specialising in helping life science companies grow through accessing funding, government relations, and industry engagement. Before founding Kantara Consulting, Megan spent over a decade at global consulting firms and served as the National Life Science Leader of the Global Investment and Innovation Incentive team for government funding at Deloitte. Megan has also worked in an Australian biotech start-up and holds a PhD in Neurobiology. At Kantara Consulting, Megan works with Australia’s most innovative and successful companies. Kantara clients frequently appear on Australia’s Top 100 Innovators list and include recipients of the Prime Minister's Prize for Innovation and Order of Australia honourees. Megan’s clients have successfully secured funding via both State and Federal grant and investment programs.

    Terry O'Riordan
    Regional Manager Aus Industry

    Terry O’Riordan is AusIndustry’s Regional Manager for Western Sydney. AusIndustry is the outreach arm of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources; working with business to navigate government programs while providing up to date information and industry connections. Terry has over 30 years’ experience in consulting and management with a focus on innovation, continuous improvement, digital technology, and Advanced Manufacturing.
