Fundraiser & film night
Event description
I am hosting a screening of the film No Other Land, in hopes to support this film further & to also raise money for PARA who are looking to raise $150k.
THE FILM: A story about Palestinian resistance under occupation.
Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist and lawyer from Masafer Yatta - a group of Palestinian villages in the southern West Bank - has been fighting his community’s mass expulsion by the Israeli occupation since childhood - the largest single act of forced displacement ever carried out in the occupied West Bank. Striking up an unlikely friendship with Israeli investigative journalist Yuval Abraham, who lives a starkly different life to Adra, the two with the help of an Isreali-Palestinian filmmaking collective commit themselves to documenting and protesting the demolition of Palestinian communities in the West Bank. Filmed as the IDF destroys everything from homes, schools and playgrounds to ceiling up drinking wells in order to make a military training ground.
WHERE YOUR FUNDS GO: $15 of the ticket price covers venue hire, and the remaining $25 goes straight to PARA. PARA is founded and led by Australian Palestinians, and they provide support for Palestinians while they are in Australia, helping them to achieve their full potential, free from the barriers created by conflict and displacement. There are also standard Humantix platform charges. Check PARA out here

We will have a guest speaker before the film to discuss their experience as a Palestinian Australian, their culture, what resistance looks like for them, and a call to action for all in attendance to consider how you can tangibly support Palestinians everywhere.
Please come, tell your friends, and if you can't make it- please donate what you can to PARA.
NOTE: I am not affiliated with PARA in any way- just trying to raise some funds for an organisation doing really important work.
