    Event description

Please join us on Saturday the 9th of November, 2024 from 2pm-7pm for an exhibition and fundraising event celebrating Palestinian food, music and culture, in direct support of Palestinians arriving in Australia.

    About the event:

25 artists from the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne, country Victoria and interstate have contributed over 100 artworks to THREADS for Palestine. These artworks, depicting items of children’s clothing, speak to the threads that bind us together through families, community, culture and traditions that give us a sense of connection and belonging. This exhibition speaks of the tragedy of those threads being broken and torn apart. The exhibition will feature works for sale.

Live music from 4-6pm with special performances by Yara, a Palestinian Naarm based pop-soul singer-songwriter (4pm) and Nola Lauch, a Kirrae-wurrung/Bundjalung woman who lives on the Mornington Peninsula and is the lead singer of JALGANY (5pm).

Delicious Palestinian food will be provided by Aheda's Kitchen. (For catering purposes, please purchase at checkout to ensure you don't miss out!)

100% of all profits will go to Palestine Australia Relief and Action (PARA) who do invaluable work helping Palestinian refugees and migrants to arrive and settle in Australia. For more information on PARA, please see their website: https://para.org.au/

The event space has been generously provided by The Factory here in Mornington. The event is also supported by the Rye Community House and the Mornington Peninsula Human Rights Group.

The organisers of this event acknowledge the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation, on whose unceded land this event will take place. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
