Event description

Join mycologist Barton Acres in this fascinating webinar as we explore the biology and life cycle of fungi, the roles that they play in the ecosystem, and how to utilise this knowledge to grow our own mushrooms at home.
We will learn about the main culinary and medicinal species of mushroom that can be cultivated in New Zealand, and some basic cultivation methods for them. This will include growing mushrooms on straw, making mushroom logs, and creating outdoor mushroom beds in the garden.  30mins Q&A at the end.

This webinar will be recorded and the recording will be shared with all registered participants after the live date. Please note that the recording is only for viewing by those who have registered to attend the live event. We appreciate your understanding about protecting our presenter's intellectual property.

ABOUT

Founded in 2017 by Barton Acres, MycoLogic is a continuation of a life-long journey that has been interwoven with fungi. First cultivating mushrooms at a hobby scale in the year 2000, Bart rapidly became obsessed with the fungal world, and foraging, identifying, eating and cultivating as many kinds of fungi as possible.

A few years later, this hobby was turned into a business, and in partnership with a couple of good mates they established an urban farm in Dunedin, cultivating gourmet mushrooms for markets in the lower South Island.
Now many years down the line, MycoLogic was established as an evolved manifestation of two decades of working with fungi. Our focus is now on research and development of all things fungi, and empowering mushroom growers at both the home and commercial scales to be successful in their endeavours.
