Furious? Art Exhibition Opening
Description
A provocative exhibition, Furious?, brings together contemporary and historical artworks exploring the injustices, contradictions and anxieties shaping our world and our communities.
From family and domestic violence to war, sexual assault, misogyny and the patriarchy, from government corruption and consumerism to the growing anxiety surrounding our planet’s future, the exhibition asks audiences to consider the issues that provoke anger, despair, disbelief and, sometimes, the determination to make things change.
Art has long been a powerful vehicle for social commentary. Artists have documented history, challenged authority, exposed injustice and questioned the conventions and power structures that others take for granted. They have given voice to dissent and created space for conversations that might otherwise remain unheard.
The exhibition features works by Gretel Killeen, Arthur Wicks, Michael Azarian, Scott Howie, Aria Amore, Joel Markham, Karen Walsh, Mary Coughlan, Matilda Hillam and Raeleen Pfeiffer, alongside poetry by Vida Green and performance by E. L. Elliot and Scott Howie.
The exhibition runs until 3 December
Please note that some of the images, poetry and performances may cause distress.
