Are you looking for ideas for a low waste Christmas, birthday or holiday celebration?  Are you keen to explore the ancient Japanese art of cloth wrapping- furoshiki? 

Local chef and cultural enthusiast Takako Okada will lead us in an afternoon of exploration. Takako will cover the rich history of furoshiki to both wrap and carry items and will demonstrate how to wrap a variety of common items. Local Inner West Boomerang Bags community group members have been sewing up decorative cloth squares from rescued and donated fabric. A bundle of three furoshikis – small, medium and large, will be provided to each workshop participant to take home. 

 
What to bring: Any gifts or other packages you would like to wrap 

Where: Inner West Sustainability Hub - Education Space (towards the back of the site, at the end of the blue pedestrian path, near the garden space.) Address: 7 Prospect Rd, Summer Hill. 

Accessibility: If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know. The site is accessible via paved pathways with a slight slope from street to buildings. 

Allergies:   light afternoon tea will be served. All food will be plant based. Please let us know if you have any other dietary requirements or allergies and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Who: This workshop is provided free to residents of the Inner West local government area. This service is presented by the Green Living Centre, an initiative of Inner West Council. As numbers are limited, the service is only available to residents of Inner West Council area. Search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area, if you're unsure. Proof of residential address will be required.
