Fuchsia + Trappist Afterland + Geoff Towner
Description
Fuchsia is a British progressive folk-rock band formed in 1970. Their self-titled 1971 album remains a cult classic to this day, and was featured in MOJO Magazine's "Buried Treasure" column which features overlooked musical gems. Their unique and trendsetting brand of psychedelic folk remains a landmark of the early ‘70s scene, and Fuchsia continues to be an enduring influence to this day. This is seminal folk from a time when the genre established itself as a force in the modern music world. Adam Geoffrey Cole and his band Trappist Afterland make beautifully meditative deep-acid folk/devotional music using voices, various acoustic stringed instruments, tabla, percussion, harmonium and tanpura drones. Psychedelic music has the power to move your soul to a different plane, and in that sense this is acid-folk of the highest order! Cole’s ritualistic music sounds at once modern and ancient, and it casts a spell that feels like a religious trance. Geoff Towner is a Sydney-based musician and visual artist who has played in and created artwork for a variety of bands including The Dead Tree, Sal Paradise, El Mopa, A Gold Star Secret, Decoder Ring, Darren Hanlon and others. He is currently performing as a solo artist and will bring his unique sound to the Pony this Thursday evening.
