FUTUNA LECTURE SERIES 2026
The Futuna Lecture Series commenced in 2011 and has been one of the main annual events on the NZ Architectural calendar for the last 14 years. It is the Futuna Chapel Trust’s major fundraiser each year and attracts a large audience of architects, architectural designers, technicians, architecture and design students and interested members of the public. The Trust exists solely on koha/donations as well as financial support from selected sponsors and donors.
This year documentary maker Catherine Hunter and Sydney architect Nick Sissons share their experiences working with Glenn Murcutt, Australia's eminent architect and Pritzker Prize Winner in 2002. In July this year Glenn celebrated his 90th birthday and 70 years of architectural practice. In those 7 decades Glenn has produced a body of work unparalleled anywhere in the world. All of his work has been in Australia

The Futuna Trust is a charitable organisation and all funds raised from the Futuna Lecture Series go towards the ongoing care, maintenance and operation of Futuna Chapel and also to support various initiatives undertaken by the Trust. Please register using the ticket types of $10, $15, $25 or $30 GST inclusive. Booking fees are in addition to the ticket prices.

Catherine Hunter - Documentary maker.
Catherine has worked in the arts as a writer, producer and director for more than 35 years. After two decades of documenting the arts for the Nine network’s acclaimed Sunday program, she left to work as a freelance director/ producer. Her documentary work has been screened on ABC arts as well as Australian Story, Landline and Compass. In 2017, she was a finalist in Australia’s Walkley Documentary award with Glenn Murcutt - Spirit of Place and is a three-time winner of the Australian Institute of Architect’s Adrian Ashton award for architectural journalism. Hunter is currently making a new film on Glenn Murcutt who celebrated his 90th year in July 2026.
Nick Sissons - Architect and Author
Sydney architect and author of 'Glenn Murcutt - Unbuilt Works" Nick studied Architecture at the University of Technology Sydney graduating with Honours. In 1997, he worked as an assistant to Glenn Murcutt on the Fletcher Page House in Kangaroo Valley. Upon graduating, he travelled by motorcycle from Sydney to London where he joined Foster and Partners. Nick became a UK registered architect and a member of the RIBA. Returning to Australia in 2002, he became a NSW registered architect and a member of the AIA. Nick established Sissons Architects in 2012, specialising in large, complex projects. The practice has undertaken a wide variety of commercial projects including the award-winning heritage revitalisation of the Locomotive Workshop in South Eveleigh. Nick is the author of Glenn Murcutt – Unbuilt Projects, published by Thames and Hudson in 2024.
