About the Future of Our Regions Youth Design Challenge
Imagine it's the year 2035. Regional communities are healthier, happier and even more connected than ever. That's where your students come in - in this design challenge, they will explore one of six key themes related to this challenge, identify the most pressing problem and then work to build a social enterprise solution that creates meaningful change.
Students can choose from one of the six themes:
- Connection: How might we improve digital and physical connection in regional Australia to strengthen communities?
- Resilience: How might we make our regions more resilient to disasters?
- Career Opportunities: How might we create accessible, future-focused employment opportunities that keep young people in the regions?
- Health: How might we improve access to quality healthcare in regional Australia?
- Food Growth and Production: How might we improve the lives of farming families & communities?
- First Nations: How might we celebrate and preserve First Nations culture in our regions?
The challenge is a great way to build your students' confidence, resilience, and general capabilities and encourages them to view problems as opportunities through a social enterprise lens.
Once they complete the challenge, they can enter the national competition to receive feedback on their idea and be in the running for prizes, mentorship and the opportunity to share their idea in the national showcase if selected as a finalist.
The challenge competition is open until October 17th, 2025.
This is a teacher-led challenge where all resources are provided through the Young Change Agents Entrepreneurial Learning Hub.
This challenge is available as a funded program supported by Young Change Agents and our challenge partners, and there is no cost for schools to take part.
