Join us for a transformative executive foresight workshop, "Futures Thinking and Strategy Transformation," led by futurists Professor Sohail Inayatullah and Dr. Ivana Milojevic. 

This hands-on workshop is designed to enhance long-range planning and strategic foresight for managers and leaders. Participants will explore advanced futures methodological tools, including the futures triangle, causal layered analysis, macro and micro scenarios, visioning, and backcasting. 

Through interactive sessions and case studies, attendees will clarify emerging trends, identify barriers to desired futures, and develop scenarios. and visions. The workshop aims to empower leaders to create and implement visionary strategies, fostering a deep understanding of self, leadership, and organisational transformation. With a blend of theoretical insights and practical activities, this workshop provides a robust framework for navigating and shaping the future.

Workshop Goals

  1. Enhance Long-Range Planning:
    • Utilise futures methodological tools such as the futures triangle, causal layered analysis, macro and micro scenarios, visioning, and backcasting.
  2. Transform Organisational Capacity:
    • Foster a futures-orientation within organisations.
  3. Clarify Trends and Drivers:
    • Identify changes in societal values and other critical drivers impacting the organization.
  4. Identify Organisational Weights:
    • Determine barriers hindering the creation of desired futures.
  5. Empower Leaders:
    • Enable leaders and managers to shape both their desired futures and those of the broader community.
  6. Develop Forecasts and Scenarios:
    • Create forecasts, emerging issues, scenarios, preferred visions, and backcasts in response to changing societal values.
  7. Enhance Vision Delivery:
    • Improve the capacity to implement institutional and organisational visions.

Workshop Outcomes

  1. Understanding Futures Methods:
    • Gain familiarity with methods for developing preferred, probable, and possible futures.

    • Understand and utilise causal layered analysis to explore core metaphors behind organizational issues.

    • Develop the ability to analyse and formulate preferred visions and policies for institutions and organizations.

    • Use futures methods to comprehend probable, possible, and preferred futures better.

Workshop Facilitators

Prof. Sohail Inayatullah, a political scientist and futurist, is the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, IIUM, Malaysia. He is also Professor at Tamkang University, Taiwan and Associate, Melbourne Business School, the University of Melbourne. He teaches from Metafuture School where his courses include Become a Futurist and Personal Futures: the CLA of the Self. He is listed in the top two percent of the world’s scientists as measured by the highest impact of citations. His most recent books include CLA 3.0, The End of the Cow and other Emerging Issues, and Asia 2038. In the past year, he has worked with PWC, ANZ; OECD; FAO; INTERPOL; Mitsubishi Motors; the Government of New Zealand; the WHO; the Government of Egypt; the Government of Indonesia; The Asian Development Bank; Globe Telecom; ISESCO; the Philippines Senate; the Pacific Community; GASERC; and the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission.

Dr. Ivana Milojević (/ˈivənə mɪˈlɔɪəvɪtʃ/), Director of Metafuture.org and Metafuture School, is a researcher, writer, and educator with a transdisciplinary professional background spanning sociology, education, gender studies, peace and conflict studies, and futures studies. Since the mid-1990s, Ivana has been actively engaged in delivering speeches, facilitating workshops, and conducting research for various governmental institutions, international associations, and non-governmental organisations across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Europe. She previously held academic positions at several universities, and is the author or editor of some 150 publications (e.g., academic books, book chapters, journal and magazine articles). In 2016-2017, she led the foresight unit at the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies in Brunei Darussalam. In 2022-2023, Ivana was a Senior Futures Thinking and Foresight Specialist/Consultant with the Asian Development Bank.
