Friday Night Pitches With FutureUp Startups

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Always wondered what you could achieve in 12 weeks, as part of a pre-accelerator program?

One week before isolation, six new/early-stage founders embarked on Future Up; a program powered by Fishburners and the UTS MBA in Entrepreneurship. Out of them, Suzie, Simon, Shun (new members to Fishburners), and Justin (an existing Burner) decided to leverage the opportunity of the program to keep the momentum on their startup.

The goal? Get their startups off the ground with a mix of online courses, individual coaching, weekly masterminds (group coaching), and the Fishburners community.

The program became the glue that kept them together. Now, 14 weeks later, they are ready to pitch their businesses to you: a mix of startups using IoT to fight domestic violence, conducting online wine tasting sessions, running community-based hyperlocal news, and crowdsourcing videos! Here they are:

  • Suzie Stipanovic from Eluminave
  • Shun Eto from VinoEd
  • Simon Crera from J-project
  • Justin Wastanage from Vloggi

Take a look at their promo videos to learn more about their businesses.

If you want to know more about the Future Up program and register your interest from the next cohort, check it out here

Please note that we have 125 physical tickets up for grabs! Networking begins at 5pm, and the pitches themselves kick off at 5.30pm (for those streaming in virtually).

For those of you who have never attended a Friday Pitch Night, here's a bit of context. Every Friday night from 5pm (except for the final Friday of the month), Fishburners opens its doors to host Shark Tank-style, Friday Night Pitches. We are a non for profit community of entrepreneurs that is dedicated to growing tech startups - and this is Australia's largest, most regular event in the ecosystem.

Our $10 entry price is directed back into the Fishburners community and covers your pizza, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages for the evening. The ticket booking fee will also be put toward Room to Read, which is a leading non-profit focused on girls' education and children's literacy in Asia and Africa.

If you're looking for inspiration to start a business, are keen to learn some pitch tips, or just want to find out what startups are new in Sydney, this is for you. It's a great event for current entrepreneurs or anyone interested in entrepreneurship but not sure where to start.

The event schedule for Friday Night Pitches is as follows:

• 5PM: Networking over drinks
• 5:30PM: Pitches begin. Grab a seat!
• 6:30PM-7PM (approx.): Networking over drinks
• 7PM: Event concludes

----------------

Please note that Fishburners values inclusive communities and all events hosted here are governed by our community code of conduct. This stems from our desire to run a productive and valuable night for our founders and all attendees where everyone feels safe and welcome to attend, bring friends, meet new people, and enjoy the start up landscape.

To make sure we have the best environment in support of this, in cases where someone is detracting from this goal they may be asked to leave for excessive drinking, antisocial behaviour, speaking during the pitches or disengagement with the purpose of the night. If any issues arise that make you feel uncomfortable please don’t hesitate to come and speak to one of the team.

We hope that by this everyone will enjoy an even more energetic and exciting event, continuing to grow in numbers as we focus all our considerable resources on supporting the skills and passions of us all in the startup industry.
