gabby fluke-mogul is a New York based violinist, improviser, composer, educator, organizer, & doula. fluke-mogul weaves within the threads of avant & free jazz with deep roots in improvised & experimental music. Their playing has been described as “embodied, visceral, & virtuosic" & "the most striking sound in improvised music in years..." gabby is humbled to have collaborated with Nava Dunkelman, Joanna Mattrey, Ava Mendoza, Charles Burnham, Fred Frith, Luke Stewart, Zeena Parkins, Tcheser Holmes, Mara Rosenbloom, William Parker, & Pauline Oliveros among many other musicians, poets, dancers, & visual artists. fluke-mogul is a Roulette 2023 Jerome Artist in Residence.
Milarepa Dorji is a guitarist from New England who’s enfettered playing is influenced by ‘70s Jazz-Rock, Punk and No Wave sensibilities, and more modern players like Bill Orcutt in equal measure. The son of Improvisation master Tashi Dorji, Mila was exposed to free music from an early age, and continues to explore the boundaries between improvisation and structure, solo and in free wheeling duo Living Window, who’s LP Astralturfing(Feeding Tube Records) Byron Coley called “…an album of pile-driving avant garde hunch reminiscent of pre-Mahavishnu McLaughlin’s slow-hand recordings with Tony Williams or Billy Cox.
From busking on Broad street to drumming in a darkened cemetery, Sonali lets themselves be swept into the madness and passion of Philadelphia's creative and improvisation scene with handsome bassoon sidekick in tow. They ache to soothe hurt souls, much like theirs, on this shared journey. Through foundations of music therapy and the power of improvisation, Sonali hopes to foster a sense of community, nurturing and .. aaand.. aaand you get it. Make music with me. Make joy with me. Make space for grief, anger, loss, and pain with me. Or let's scream for no reason!
